The article’s intention is not to compare PhysX-enabled games, but to simply show how setting your older graphics card to solely process PhysX can affect different games. For example – look at GTA V, a game with no intention of PhysX when being created, yet it had a higher average FPS with the dedicated PhysX processor.Author: Chris Jolliffe

Should I have PhysX processed by my graphics card or CPU? I have a fairly decent gaming laptop with an Intel Wuad Core i7-3630QM @ 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM and GeForce GTX 675MX. I've noticed in my NVIDIA Control Panel there is an option to choose my "PhysX processor", either …

May 14, 2015 · Most games hides/disables the setting for PhysX if you have a AMD graphics card. It was different with Alice: Madness Returns or at least when i had my AMD card, i could turn on PhysX but the game would run horribly slow and as it should with PhysX off. As Rove says, your cpu will do the calculation instead.

Not everyone's motherboard and/or power supply will support an additional graphics card. Before you get a dedicated PhysX card, make sure your motherboard can handle another card. On many motherboards, a second graphics card will lower the PCIe speed from x16 to x8 per card. By most accounts, that's fine and presents a minimal difference.

On 3dmark 11 FireStrike test (PhysX only test) it scored 8236 with CPU PhysX and 8246 GPU PhysX. Only 10 points in it. From my point of view, I let the CPU handle the PhysX since it performs as well as the GPU but allows the GPU to dedicate to graphics performance. It's a shame NVidia killed the PhysX standalone card market.
