Apr 25, 2008 · If you update to firmware 2.20, ps3 can now play xsub and idx+sub graphic based subtitles, there's still no support for external subtitles. If you have srt files, you can use programs such as aviaddxsub or sub2divx to remux the subtitles into the avi file to create a new divx file.

My miniDLNA server doesn't seem to stream the srt files (named the same as the video and utf-8 encoded) to my playback devices. I have tested this with my ps3 and android phone.
