The receiver can receive 5.1/6.1 lossy over SPDIF, and apply post processing to matrix to 7.1 Same applies to 2.0. The receiver can apply post processing to extract/matrix to 7.1.

    Dec 30, 2018 · I assume you are using a model that does have SPDIF (Yes it is a silly question but some models do not have it.) and Have seen work around using a dual connection in settings method. The hdmi being 7.1 uncompressed setting and the SPDIF being bit stream out. Try that sound settings set up to see if that helps it out.
