A 3 port firewire 1394B & 1394A PCIe card adapter was installed and sure enough, the system does recognized the device. The device manager lists the firewire adapter as, "Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller."The firewire device supports both 800 or 400 Mbps.

May 28, 2014 · In my next post. I will go retrieve my firewire cardbus and post the output for you. I don't use that using Ubuntu. To be honest. My P3 IBM T23 laptop cannot handle the strain of running Unity and Gnome shell, like your nice new, (to me), battle ship work horse T400 does. But my distro of choice, AntiX, handles it just fine so Ubuntu should also.
