Mar 04, 2010 · As discussed, motherboards are still being built with a parallel port. It's in the category of "arguably obsolete, but still included in modern designs" along with PS/2 mouse and keyboard ports. So it's a bit odd that Virtualbox has no parallel port support. I have had some experience with software reliant on a parallel port dongle.

Have you had it working properly on this hardware before? In VirtualBox before? Don't set the parallel port to ECP mode. I suggest PS/2 mode (no extra features except bidirectional). Aug 26, 2015 · The virtual machine or guest OS does not have direct access to the hardware of your host computer unless VirtualBox provides an interface or passthrough. I would say parallel printer ports are pretty much obsolete and have been replaced with ethernet or USB. Anyway, VirtualBox does support LPT, but it isn't in the menu.
