The Wii mini does not support the use of an SD Card. If you have not yet updated your Wii console to Wii Menu 4.0 or higher, then your Wii console is only compatible with SD Cards that are 2 GB (Gigabyte) or less. Cards with a capacity higher than 2 GB will likely not work with the Wii console if it has not been updated to 4.0 or higher.

Aug 12, 2016 · Theoretically, the Wii U should support 2TB, though especially when trying to reach that upper limit, unexpected incompatibility issues can arise. I believe anything short of 2TB (e.g. 1.5TB, 1TB, 512GB, etc) should be safe to be used in a Wii, Wii U or Nintendo 3DS.

The sticky is ancient and needs to be revised somehow. I haven't used any myself, but yes, they do, the only catch is that games released before the system update that allowed the Wii to use them still can't use them (Most notably Brawl and Excite Truck).

May 20, 2013 · After a minute or so, the Wii finally finished it’s scan of the 128 GB SDXC card and reported that it had over 976,649 blocks free! That’s quite a bit of space for Wii saved data! For a device produced in 2006 and equipped with a SDHC slot, it’s amazing to see that it’s compatible with the latest large capacity SDXC cards.
