Jul 12, 2017 · In Windows they don’t call their RAID options by the traditional 0, 1, 5, 10 etc. Instead they use spanned, striped, and mirrored as the options for creating software RAIDs. Windows will only support software RAID. These are the officially supported modes. It has been possible in previous Windows releases to enable unsupported modes through DLL modifications and/or registry changes, and this will probably be the case in Windows 7 as well. At your own risk, of course.

Jan 11, 2012 · Correct, win7, default raid via dynamic disks, only supports raid as indicated. My reference to disk Tb sizes was as a result of problems posted with reference to win7 default raid. There is not a problem with win7 and large TB disks, excepting in relation to certain drive makers, which have been documented in those specific drive makers sites.

Windows has eliminated Software RAID and instead uses a newer technology they call Storage Spaces. Windows 10 should have Storage Spaces as well but I'm not certain. I love storage spaces. I never worked with RAID but I'm told it was a pain to get working; storage spaces are really easy to use.

Dec 18, 2009 · Does Windows 7 x64 Pro support RAID 5 in disk management? It shows up as an option but it always grayed out. I have (4) 500GB drives and would really like to use RAID 5 on the 3 that aren't boot drives without all of the BS of using my MoBo controllers and finding the right drivers.
