Jun 29, 2008 · Best Answer: If you are running 32-bit Windows, you must live with it. You will not ever see all 4GB of RAM you've paid for. If you are running 64-bit Windows, you may have to live with it. Depending on your motherboard's chipset, your system may support memory remapping. If so, you will be able to use all 4GB of RAM.

This is all the memory 32-bit XP can handle, and from it you have to subtract all the memory in the computer. This includes HDD caches, CPU cache, RAID card caches, graphics cards, RAM, etc.

Feb 26, 2008 · Best Answer: In a word, no. XP can ADDRESS a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but that address space also includes all onboard PCI devices, such as your video card. In order to be able to talk to those devices, XP must ignore the upper 512 MB of your 4 GB of RAM.
