May 02, 2007 · You can enable afterburner in client/bridge mode, but according to the help it is only supported on the WRT54GS models. I believe it will let you enable it on non GS models, but I don't know if it does anything. I have two Buffal WHR-HP-G54 routers which support afterburner, and I actually lost speed when enabling afterburner.

I have three WRT54g's, a ver 2.2 a ver 3 and a ver 5. The first 2 have dd-wrt ver24 and the 3rd has ver23 sp2 micro. Do any of these have the afterburner capability.

And yes, it's very noticeable. The GL is way ahead on speed of the ASUS WL500gP v2's which I also use, even at 200MHz. Subjectively, the 500 "feels" SLUGGISH. The maximum "safe" speed is normally 250MHz. There is a very small possibility that YOUR router may not overclock to 250. And I mean small.
