Nov 24, 2017 · Now after the upgrade and a several monthly updates from Microsoft my system has been rolled back to DirectX 10. Now all my previous games and anything that I install new show a black screen. The audio works fine but the display is always black. I have tried to upgrade to DirectX 11 but it always ends up back at DirectX 10.

Apr 14, 2015 · Recently, i have been using Windows XP Professional SP3, and i realized that my on-board graphics card is old. So i decided to buy a new one and replace it. The problem is Windows XP only supports DirectX 9.0c, and i don't see much cards support this DirectX version. The most i see is DirectX 10 and 11 supported graphics card.

A lot of DirectX 10's features are dependent upon Windows Vista's kernel and Display Driver Model, which means they won't work on XP.
