Apr 18, 2008 · XP has very poor native support for SATA drives. To be used, one must either put in a floppy with the controller driver in, or slipstream the driver into the installation CD. XP does "support" them, though, in that they can be used with the correct drivers.

Re: Installing XP on SATA My hard drive is hitachi HTS543225L9A300, when installing XP it says no harddrive is detected on your system, I know there is the option to install a 3rd party drive durring installation, but it wants the disk to be inserted into drive A, which does not exist on my laptop.
