I find it inexcusable that Dell would produce a system that didn't incorporate a two-year-old standard and THEN refuse over the next six years to update the BIOS to finally support it. If it's true that the Inspiron 5100 doesn't support LBA48, you seem to think I'm supposed to forgive Dell this old transgression, drink the Kool-Aid and shut up?

Apr 27, 2004 · However, I still have some issues. I have a a7a266 motherboard with a ALI M1535D+ IDE chip set and from what I can find ALI doesn't support LBA48 while in DMA mode, but it will if I drop down to PIO. After doing some more poking around I found that when I compile the kernel I can tell it to use DMA by default or not.

Feb 05, 2017 · Then you could use XBPartitioner version 1.3 to partition the drive. I say 1.3 because the earlier versions are a bit buggy. If you run XBPartitioner with the BIOS that's in your XBOX currently, it will post a warning message stating that your existing BIOS doesn't support LBA48. And LBA 48 v2 is what you need to properly handle a large hard drive.

Linux lba48 support - LinuxQuestions.org

Mar 03, 2008 · Is LBA48 not supported in any Linux distro yet? Is it just the driver for this controller that does not have the support for LBA48? I have been Googling for a while and have not found any info that solves this issue. Is there any other distros that may support it natively so I can install Linux on the controller card disks in a raid 1 array?
