Oct 11, 2007 · EAX works fine in Vista. Im afraid not. Microsoft has changed the way sound is dealt with in Vista. All games that use Direct3D are affected. OpenAL games are fine. Creative X-Fi is the best solution for gaming in Vista. It has a software called Alchemy which can get EAX sounds going even under Vista.

Oct 07, 2010 · Correct, Vista and 7 do not support hardware accelerated sound. If you want support for EAX 1 or 2, just download OpenAL, a very small driver that will enable EAX 1/2 support. I'm not sure what the Realtek drivers do, but it's probably similar (or a port of) OpenAL.
