FFmpeg supports NVENC through the h264_nvenc and hevc_nvenc encoders. In order to enable it in FFmpeg you need: A supported GPU; Supported drivers for your operating system The NVIDIA Codec SDK or compiling FFmpeg with --enable-cuda-llvm ffmpeg configured with --enable-nvenc (default if the drivers are detected while configuring)

FFMPEG with NVIDIA Acceleration on Ubuntu Linux DU-07857-001_v01 5 6. If your computer will not always have internet access you can download the local version instead. It has the display driver and all the CUDA development packages so it is a sizable 1.9GB. Figure 2 - Selecting the 64bit Ubuntu 14.04 LTS local Ubuntu package 7.

Jul 24, 2019 · Figure 2: Transcoding pipeline with FFmpeg using NVIDIA hardware acceleration. FFmpeg supports hardware accelerated decoding and encoding via the h264_cuvid, hevc_cuvid and h264_nvenc, hevc_nvenc modules. Activating support for hardware acceleration when building from source requires some extra steps:

Jul 31, 2019 · We also need a GPU enabled ffmpeg version for our recognition project. Could you please provide a few hints how to compile ffmpeg with nvenc and jetson nano support? This is not supported as described in #2 Where can we get examples of the MMAPI functionality. Per example how to decoding to YUV <MMAPI> Scaling YUV <MMAPI> file.yuv?

build: add support for building CUDA files with clang This avoids using the CUDA SDK at all; instead, we provide a minimal reimplementation of the basic functionality that lavfi actually uses. It generates very similar code to what NVCC produces.

I want to use ffmpeg to accelerate video encode and decode with an NVIDIA GPU. From NVIDIA's website: . NVIDIA GPUs contain one or more hardware-based decoder and encoder(s) (separate from the CUDA cores) which provides fully-accelerated hardware-based video decoding and encoding for several popular codecs.

GPU based encoding is specific to a codec/GPU computing standard (CUDA, OpenCL) so you would need to specify what are you using in your case. ffmpeg is amongst other things a wrapper for popular codecs like x264 and VP8 for video. Using x264 all attempts so far have produced mixed results at best.
