I need to generate a script that converts videos to F4V's for use with Flash Media Server 4.5...is this possible? I have it converting files to MP4s and then swapping the extension. This works fine, but seems like a dirty work around. I'd prefer to use a generate a true F4V. I've heard mixed things on whether or not ffmpeg truly supports F4Vs.

FFMPEG will automatically use the f4v format if your input is H.264. yamdi -i destination.flv -o destination.f4v After inserting the metadata, your f4v file is now ready for streaming. If you omit this last step, you can only navigate to parts where the file has been download. FYI, if you can support variable bitrates, use the -crf option.

I have tried renaming the .mov file to .f4v given that this link suggests that .mov and .f4v have the same support. My questions are: Are .mov files only supported for RTMP streaming? Do I need to transconde my files to MP4 (or any other format) to be able to stream videos to Apple devices?
