Apr 02, 2004 · AFAIK, they're there for support (larger flaps). Someone correct me if I'm wrong Certainly. He's referring to the flap track fairings and not the flap tracks themselves. Flap tracks, carriages, gearboxes and associated mounting bracketry etc are very un-aerodynamic.
