Dec 02, 2011 · I'm still almost positive that your specific card just doesn't support it. If you look at manpages it says specific cards only support jumbo frames (or rather, driver implementation for those chips in FreeBSD). I could be wrong, however.

Aug 15, 2008 · If it can support them, it receives the jumbo frame and replies as per normal. Larger ping packets are fragmented on your network because you don't have jumbo frames enabled on the sender. However, to be pedantic, I repeated the test with the FreeBSD ping's -D flag (don't fragment) with the same result and confirmed in both cases via sniffing that jumbo frames were being sent.

Looks like some bloke has written or tweaked the freebsd 7 drivers with the intention of better supporting jumbo frames. He is asking for testers for his patch, I wouldn't even know where to start! Is it beyond my means to upgrade to 1.2.1 (freebsd 7) and install this driver?
