Feb 01, 2012 · To my knowledge, FreeNAS does not (yet) support being an initiator, only a target. You would need an (supported) iSCSI HBA and then it should work fine. I know you can run FreeNAS as a VM, I've done it. What I don't think you'll be able to do is get high performance from it, for example, saturate a 1G network.

Dec 24, 2016 · on UNIX systems external devices aren't mounted by default, you'd need to run mount /dev/sdaX /mnt to mount it (where /dev/sdXX). you can call mount with no arguments to see what's already mounted, that will tell you what not to mount.. Also I'm not sure freebsd/freenas ship with hfs+ drivers so you might need to install hfsutils pkg install hfsutils it looks like support for writing to hfs is ...

In fact they've dropped tons of their Oracle hardware support since they primarily target Fujitsu gear now so Fujitsu gear tends to get better support but that is just in the Sparc space. ...
