Problem arouse as you try to connect to a 0.5.0 installation with no 2.0.0 backend support and a 2.0.0-client. As Nomachine changed the behaviour of the backingstore-option. In 1.5.0-clients the client sends "always, when_requested" et all and freenx just passed this string to the nxagent-call.

FreeNX seems to be good candidate for remote desktop software with audio support. However, this is not going to help with dual audio (one for local and one for remote). That is possible (to route some programs to different sound card or different channel) but I couldn't find any good reference on that.

Am trying to use DSL as a thin client to connect to server using FreeNX client over SSH. Works great except for multimedia support (ie audio). When selecting the enable multimedia NX reports that the local audio server is not using network support. Anyone know what this means. Have added ALSA, gnu-utils etc from repositories. Thanks
