May 31, 2016 · We apply support to restrict these DOF. In ANSYS, Frictionless Support provide Support in normal direction to the selected face or edge. The body can not move or rotate or deform in normal direction. But free to move or rotate or rotate in tangential direction.

Dec 08, 2011 · This one should be very easy for you ANSYS experts. I'm having trouble simulating a fixed support in only ONE direction. ie. I'm trying to fix something in that it can't go through the ground, but is able to deflect upward.

They should be able to separate from the support plane, but not to penetrate into the support plane. They should not be supported in x or z -direction. I thought this was what compression only supports did, simulate something simply standing on a fixed/completely stiff surface.
