Symmetry Region vs. Frictionless Support

    https://studentcommunity.ansys.com/thread/symmetry-region-vs-frictionless-support/
Aug 01, 2018 · For example, if the frictionless support is applied on a cylindrical surface, the nodes are constrained in the radial direction (similar to a Cylindrical Support in Mechanical, with radial fixed, but, Axial and Tangential directions free). Best regards, Rohith

Capability and Application of ANSYS: Frictionless Support

    https://ansys-satya.blogspot.com/2016/05/frictionless-support.html
May 31, 2016 · We apply support to restrict these DOF. In ANSYS, Frictionless Support provide Support in normal direction to the selected face or edge. The body can not move or rotate or deform in normal direction. But free to move or rotate or rotate in tangential direction.

What is meant by friction less support boundary condition in Ansys Workbench? I had read several literature. But I am not clear with its application?

XANSYS ~ View topic - [Xansys] Using Frictionless Support ...

    http://www.xansys.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=70362
Jun 05, 2008 · I am running a model where singularity stresses are very high in the region where I apply Fixed Support. I was told that frictionless support can be used in the region of fixed support to avoid getting singular stresses. But ANSYS WB help shows that Frictionless support is …

Capability and Application of ANSYS: Fixed Support

    https://ansys-satya.blogspot.com/2016/05/fixed-support.html
May 30, 2016 · We apply support to restrict these DOF. In ANSYS, for Fixed support, we restrict all the DOF at a point, edge or face.

Frictionless Support: •Applies constraints (fixes) in the normal direction on surfaces. •For solid bodies, this support can be used to apply a structural symmetry boundary condition. •Examples . . . Fixed in radial direction Free translation in plane of support Fixed translation out of plane of support Free in tangential and axial directions

What are the use of different types of Loads and Supports ...

    https://www.quora.com/What-are-the-use-of-different-types-of-Loads-and-Supports-given-in-ANSYS-Workbench
Aug 22, 2019 · Here are load types in ANSYS: * acceleration - used when we know the value of acceleration acting as a load in the system (for example cars) * gravity - when we want to include effects of self-weight for example in cantilever beam * rotational vel...

Simulating "Ground" support in Static Structural - ANSYS ...

    https://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=312077
Dec 08, 2011 · This one should be very easy for you ANSYS experts. I'm having trouble simulating a fixed support in only ONE direction. ie. I'm trying to fix something in that it can't go through the ground, but is able to deflect upward.

Compression only supports in ANSYS : fea

They should be able to separate from the support plane, but not to penetrate into the support plane. They should not be supported in x or z -direction. I thought this was what compression only supports did, simulate something simply standing on a fixed/completely stiff surface.
