Intel Xeon Phi can indeed run programs that are compiled with the gcc cross compiler. However gcc is not suitable for compiling any applications for the coprocessor, since gcc does "not include support for Knights Corner vector instructions and related optimization improvements.

Please look at the top of that page: GCC 5 and later support two offloading configurations: * OpenMP to Intel MIC targets (upcoming Intel Xeon Phi products codenamed KNL) as well as MIC emulation on host.. So, offloading to KNC is not supported.Author: Cxh
