I have a bunch of jp2 files with size going from 40MB to 1GB and I need to convert them all to GeoTiffs (.tif format). When using gdal_translate for the small files (having the jasper driver to support jp2 files), this works. Mar 13, 2013 · To support the ERDAS ECW Plug-in for ArcGIS Desktop 10.1, work was done to add support for the ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK v5 into GDAL. The new ECW SDK adds support for ECW v3, which supports 16-bit data, RPC, statistics, histograms, and much more in the new ECW file format.

Mar 21, 2010 · GDAL binaries don't always come with jpeg2000 support. What platform are you on? It is easy with OSgeo4W (select gdal16) for Windows, or Kyng Chaos (select ECWJP2 framework) for Macintosh, or lastly Linux if you also configure ECWJP2 during the build. FWtools (gdal binaries) for Linux is getting quite outdated since it is not being built any more.
