phpBB already verifies the supplied image types and therefore already contains one of the described mitigations for the ImageMagick vulnerabilities. phpBB supports using ImageMagick for creating thumbnails only. Other parts of phpBB, such as image or general attachment uploads, are not using ImageMagick at all.

Apr 01, 2017 · Hi Dan, During "discover" for ImageMagick in acp, phpBB crawls for the path to "mogrify" in some well known directories (you should find them in the acp-php-file), which is a quite unique program name compared to "convert".

Sep 26, 2019 · ImageMagick is not in CentOS 8. I understand this is because it's been removed from RHEL, but does anyone know why it was removed and what it is expected that people who use ImageMagick do as a result?

Per this thread, I discovered that ImageMagick's DDS coder (dds.c) does not have support for legacy DDS files. Specifically, the DDS_PIXELFORMAT structure allows for three legacy flags that are not handled by the coder:

A while ago I needed to convert a lot of DDS files to PNG, so I wrote some code so "convert" could read DDS files. Right now I have some spare time to clean up the code and add support for more DDS compression formats; I don't intend to support writing DDS files.
