May 06, 2012 · IOS202 enables USB 2.0 and DVD-Support (which Nintendo planed to integrate on the Wii, but cut it out in the end. Thanks to Team Twiizers, some Code was still found and made DVD-Playback possible). If you don't have that, the Wii doesn't know what to do with the Disc, and it won't work. So, install it, or leave it.

Dec 18, 2009 · To get back to DVD support, I did notice that you had said that the Wii does not support data/video DVD's, but this is incorrect. It does not support them out of the box, but if you install either DVDX, MplayerCe's IOS202, or Hermes IOS202 (this is the one I use), you will obtain data and video DVD support in MPlayerCE and other homebrew apps that utilize DVD media storage

Download - Here If you do not have HBC 1.0.8 or higher, use the Hermes cIOS installer 5.1 to install IOS202 with a base of 60 or 57 (base 60 is best when using SMB or wireless router connections, base 57 is best for USB HDD use).

Aug 10, 2010 · Edit: Ios202 is a custom IOS that gives the wii usb2.0 and DVD support. WiiMC checks to see if you have it installed and bugs you if you don't. The installer you can download from the site I mentioned can be placed on the SD card just like any other homebrew, and it will walk you through the installation process.
