Jun 16, 2011 · I had a chat with Intel a few months ago about port multiplier support. The last chipset supporting PM is P35. Everything later then P35 is without Port Multiplier support, because it is not compatible with RST Rapid Storage Tech drivers. I had a 4 bay esata/usb3 enclosure hooked on an esatabracket connected to the sata2 on my P35 motherboard.

No, unfortunately it is not supported; these chips are not validated for port multipliers. If you have for example a laptop with this processor and you try to connect it to a SATA port multiplier through eSATA connectors on the laptop, the eSATA are not "PM-aware", and thus will only see the first drive in the port multiplier enclosure.

The same within the motherboard specs (DH67GD), where it is written that the sata ports "support only one peripheral", we know that, maybe it is an elegant manner to write that they do not support port multiplier. And, finaly, if you read the help of Intel Rapid Storage console, it is clearly written that it does not support port muliplier.

Sep 21, 2006 · Answer is no. The Intel Mac Mini SATA port does not support port multipliers. Apple are using the 945GM chipset in the Mac Mini. This chipset uses a mobile version of the Intel 82801(GBM) as the southbridge, which supplies the SATA functionality.
