From the MS Answer "But Internet Explorer 6 without any service packs cannot use this version of the protocol.", while the linked SO question says "SSLv3 support was added in [...] Internet Explorer 3.x" (my emphasis) To me, it still looks like anything below a patched IE6 can't use SSLv3.

As it happened for SSLv2, recently Google engineers pointed out that SSLv3 is broken (with an exploitation technique known as POODLE) and should not be used any longer.
