Does anyone know what the "access_bpf" group is / does. I noticed it when I went into Preferences > Users & Groups. I've searched around and found that it has something to do with Wireshark, however I have not installed the program on my Mac so I'm too sure how the group got added.

Sep 04, 2004 · Hi, I'm trying to use a packet capture library that uses the berkley packet filters in Darwin. In order to capture the packets, I must have read acess to the /dev/bpf* files. I can chmod these, but as soon as I reboot their privledges are reset! Any ideas? Thanks, Eric
