Sep 12, 2006 · Just for fun, I specified mynetworks_style = host, and authentication from my lan (on the same subnet) failed. So, I guess it isn't authenticating at all, but was allowing relaying because the machines are on the same sbunet. And nothing at all is added to the log when I get the message "Mail server does not support secure authentication".

Aug 17, 2018 · I could not make it work again, so I tried to fall back to the 3CX SMTP server, but this gives the same error: "The SMTP server does not support authentication." even as Outlook.com and Gmail (also tried as Custom SMTP server). After all my tests I restarted the 3CX services (and sometimes a reboot of the machine)

Jan 14, 2011 · My POP email accounts on Hosting.365.ie do not use a password to authenticate outgoing mail. They rely on a prior authenticated download to enable the outgoing mail server. On my MacBook Pro there is an option in the SMTP server settings under authentication for "none' and all my accounts work perfectly on the MacBook.

May 27, 2013 · I've religiously followed the instructions & the Incoming settings are accepted but when I put in the Outgoing details it always comes up with "Your outgoing server does not support authentication. Please verify your outgoing server settings". I am not a computer/phone expert but managed to set up my BlackBerry without any problem.

May 28, 2019 · the SMTP server supports the "EHLO" (Extended Hello command, circa IETF RFC 1425) - this is a "given"...it's inconceivable in 2019 that an SMTP server would not. the SMTP server presents the keyword "AUTH" in the EHLO response. AUTH indicates that the SMTP server supports Authentication of the email client to the SMTP server.
