Jun 23, 2013 · I was browsing haze's wip page and noticed a little blurb about mame getting 7zip support in the next u-build. Now I was never a fan of 7zip... I always thought rar files were better BUT I'd be a fool not to upgrade my roms to 7z when this release comes out....

Jul 02, 2010 · Independant 7-zip support is enough ? Or do you need inter-archive operations (like unzipping a rom and 7-zipping elsewhere ) ? Or convert 7-zip to zip and work with zip ? When creating a new file, would you like it to be zip ? 7-zip ? How to handle that Mame doesn't support 7-zip ?...

Aug 01, 2013 · Yep - MAME has supported 7-zip compression since version 0.146 (search on '7z'). I still haven't made the jump to convert my sets though (sounds like that may have been prudent ). This post on David Haywood's blog contains more details.5/5(1)

Mar 29, 2015 · tested with all nes and snes emulators, and a no go- its likely the same for the rest of the systems as well. If people can prove support for .7z on the pi with retroarch we can look on adding them but for now it looks like it isnt viable (at least not out of the box).
