I've been using an old Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 since they added analog support in February. I've been very happy being able to use a joystick in a MechWarrior game again. You simply cannot duplicate the fine precise movements of a joystick with the on/off buttons on a keyboard. It's not perfect yet though.

A joystick or HOTAS is the traditional way to play MechWarrior with it's roots in simulation. HOTAS support is not native to the Unreal Engine and support will be spotty. PGI is adding controller support based on feedback.
