It is now considered obsolete and insecure, due to most implementations supporting, at best, WEP security or no security at all. Netgear has quite clearly opted to remove WDS...

WEP is being phased out since it’s a very weak encryption method. WDS which is closely tied to WEP is also being phased out by Netgear in many cases. Newer model routers don’t support either WEP or WDS. New range extenders are typically listed as ‘universal’, they do not use WEP to connect to the base router.

The best way to configure your network, is one base router (DHCP Server) and the rest AP's but you need to use ethenet cables between base router and AP's. You can set up 3 routers with the same SSID's, but change the band channels on the router.
