    Aug 12, 2009 · i'm currently running Snow leopard (WWDC09) beta 10A380. after plugging in an ntfs formatted USB drive to drag files off, i noticed there wasn't a read only icon in the bottom corner. I tested a copy to the drive and interestingly enough, the drive is read/write. i have not installed NTFS-3g, so this obviously means its not supported.

    Jun 28, 2010 · As others mentioned Snow Leopard can read from NTFS, but can't write to it without the above aides. You can't setup an NTFS volume as a boot volume on a Mac, or FAT32 for that matter. So consider your hard drive usage and decide the best solution to meet your needs.

    Sep 07, 2009 · A developer build of Snow Leopard had NTFS read/write access out of the box. Not sure why Apple removed it. I always have problems when writing onto NTFS hard drives. For some reason copying files on NTFS files takes a lot of time.

    Sep 22, 2009 · Worked out in my favor. I used NTFS-3G + MacFuse on Tiger and Leopard before, and the transfer speed is much slower to my external hard drive. I thought it was because of my Macbook's USB 1.0 ports. Now that I use native NTFS read/write support from Snow Leopard, I see that it was NTFS-3G + MacFuse that slowed me down.

    Sep 14, 2009 · I am sure many of you heard that Snow Leopard was supposed to have native read/write for NTFS partitions. Apple supported NTFS R/W in older SL builds but I guess decided to not to go with it for some reason, however support is still present.
