OpenBSD includes a software RAID implementation which supports booting in newer snapshots, and I was itching to install the latest version and use it as my file server, which has 4 750GB disks. UEFI & GPT installation problems [OpenBSD 6.3] ... I guess (from reading i386_installboot.c) that the boot partition should be an MS-DOS filesystem, with /efi/BOOT directory containing BOOTIA32.EFI and BOOTX64.EFI. This partition should be on sd0, not encrypted on sd1. ... I don't know because I don't use softraid(4) and don't have an EFI machine.

Sep 24, 2019 · However, now that newer versions of OpenBSD support GPT and UEFI, Boot Camp Assistant is no longer needed at all to boot OpenBSD. macOS FileVault encryption and OpenBSD encrypted softraid on a Macbook Air/Pro. OpenBSD works pretty well on at least the Mid-2011 Macbook Air (A1370, SandyBridge) and Mid-2013 Macbook Air (Haswell).

SoftRAID version 4 does not support macOS Sierra 10.12 . SoftRAID version 4 will not work with macOS Sierra 10.12 (or any OS later than 10.10). Apple has made significant changes to the Mac's operating system since version 4 was first released in 2009.
