A good support really needs 2 things, good peel and a good engage/disengage. Orianna can't really peel for her marksman, and her engage is not the same without the damage, this considering you have support items -crucible and the like- means you don't really bring enough to the table to make it a pick. All of this is my advice for solo queue.

Jun 25, 2011 · support orianna isnt viable imo (and I haven't seen anyone playing her that way in ranked matches) because her cc is kinda bad compared to eg janna. her shield needs ap to be really strong, her slow is kinda hard to hit in some cases. support orianna would simply be like a very bad janna (despite her dmg on the first few levels maybe)

Jan 08, 2012 · She is tottaly viable. Really nice damage, nice utility, her attack animation is excelent for those lasthits. I bough her when she was released, really enjoyed her. 2 or 3 weeks ago, I picked her again (after the nerfs) and I don't feel any difference.

Sep 29, 2011 · She's been my main since I started playing LoL (before any of the 'patches of doom' arrived) and I can say that she is still viable - while not "the best" she is still very strong for those who have mastered her (yes, I am well aware of the derpy "but champ X is gud if u know how to lol" but this is a case where that is actually correct, not like Xin Zhao where a blind monkey can dominate).

In conclusion: Orianna works as a support, without doubt, but there are much better options who do the job a lot better with less resources. At the end of the day when you play a champion, you want the biggest "bang for your buck".

Makeing her viable as support does not mean she cant be played as AP carry, it just creates the option to play her as support, which i think would be good (we have few viable supports atm), and she is really fun.

The 5.22 changes on Quinn still didn't put her in a good spot as bot lane ADC, and kinda removed the option of tanky fighter top since her ult is now non-combat. But now she has amazing roam, and her cc from Vault is still good for burst trading as well as her Aerial Assault now has the ult exe

Damn i have had so much fun the last few games. And yes, its another midlaner who can support After the athenes unholy grail rework, i think orianna support is very good and viable. Pair that item with ardent censer and frost queens claim (and a sightstone!!), get either thunderlords or that mastery

Orianna is really sad nowadays, with the all the changes that has been introduced in preseason 6, she got a lot of harsh changes, which not really affect her availability in positive way. Masteries got an overhaul, and while some of the champions got some really usefull stuff that made them viable
