Oct 10, 2006 · Hey guys, i was just wondering in the future would PCSX2 support Quad core CPU's which may improve fps? Or is it better just sticking with a dual core for now. If PCSX2 could support quad core any ideas on how long it would take to implement? Not complaining or anything, just wondering.. Thanks

Mar 28, 2014 · No, currently up to 3 cores are supported (2 cores and an additional one if the new MTVU speed hack is used). To make PCSX2 efficiently use 4 or more cores will require major code changes. So don't ask when quad-core support will be available, since it won't be anytime soon! However, PCSX2 will run fine on your quad-core processor.

Jan 10, 2018 · Laptops from now on will have 4 and 6 cores. It would be a shame to not utilize the extra cores to speed up the emulator along with DX12 and Vulkan support like the Dolphin Emulator for the Gamecube/Wii has. Any word on this? Well, Dolphin doesn't use 3 cores either, really. In fact, I think they recommend disabling the dual core option nowadays.

Dec 19, 2008 · Well usually Windows balances load to all cores so one core won't get like 20C higher tempature than other ;P And as above has been stated, nope you cannot get quad core support. I'm currently using 75% max for PCSX2 (3 threads) and get in some games still slow as 30 FPS eventough I have overclocked Q6600 to 3.51GHz

Feb 04, 2009 · but that doesn't mean we'll get 100% FPS gains from each core, it'll probably be around a 20~30% speed boost total. dual core users will also benefit as well (maybe 5~15%) of course i'm just being optimistic, but quad-core support is something i've wanted to see in pcsx2 for along time, so don't think the users are the only ones that want this

I am a bit disappointed from the performance I can have with 3d games only 17 fps and my computer has Intel Centrino Duo (Dual Core on laptop) and graphics card is ATI Radeon 2400. I've Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion (if you know the game), which requires a very high performance with beautiful graphics.

It just won't benefit from the extra core. Why is my CPU load less than 100%? As said above,PCSX2 only uses 2 cores,so if you have more the CPU usage will be way less 100%.
