Feb 03, 2011 · But Phonegap doesn’t support WebSocket yet, it’s in their Plan-of-Action for 1.x release though. So, it was needed to be addressed. I found Mathias Desloge’s PhoneGap-Android-HTML5-WebSocket project. It was good but it used old java.io.* packages.

Websockets are supported by Blackberry and iOs browsers by default. For Android there are some promising plugins to integrate websockets into Android java code and execute it in Phonegap using Javascript. I chose this one: websocket-android-phonegap. I integrated that plugin into my android project and followed every step in the readme.
