May 17, 2016 · hey PowerPeeps - upgraded my wifi router which uses WPA2 Personal encryption by default (preferred); older Powerbook G4 can deal w WEP (& LEAP) encryption o nly, so it rejects login attempts to the wifi Does anyone know if there is a device or an app that can help this faithful old dog make the leap to this level of security?

Apr 20, 2015 · I have a PB Ti G4 (Model: M8592LL/A) with the original Airport card. I cant get this to connect to WPA networks. WEP wireless works fine. When I have a network set as WPA the PowerBook sees the network and when I attempt to join it recognizes it as a "WPA Personal" network, however I cannot join the network at all.

Aug 31, 2009 · I've just inherited a powerbook G4 with OS X operating system. This is my first mac and so far I love it other than I can't hook it up to my wireless network at home. The airport recognizes the network but when I put in the password it says password is incorrect for this network. I looked at the log and it says airport problem scanning.

Apple had a firmware update for these boards. Here's the link to the AirPort updates AirPort downloads. There was also a paid update to give you 802.11n depending on the Airport board. You could also try altering your AP so 802.11a (802.11g) connections are possible. Lets us know what happens - PowerBook G4 Titanium Series

A guy in r/linux told me I could ressurect a powerbook with bsd (openbsd he mentioned specifically).... Let me piggyback on this thread since I need to ask: Powerbook aluminium G4 1,67ghz with radeon. In linux this model is pretty much done since mesa no longer supports the radeon card, I see that the mesa version in openbsd is pretty much the same.
