Nov 27, 2009 · I run xp pro. Planning to move to Windows 7 Pro. But Windows 7 upgrade advisor reports "WinXP Promise FastTrak 378 (tm) Controller Promise Technology.Not compatible. The driver installed for this device is not compatible with Windo ws 7". advice on solving this problem appreciated. thanks

Dec 17, 2005 · When you extract the 378_55.exe file that you get from MSI, it gives you 2 folders and several sub-folders. In the Driver\WinXP folder are in fact 2 sets of drivers. One is the FastTrack378(Fasttx2k.sys) driver for a Raid setup.

Jul 14, 2007 · I hated the Promise 378 controller. I had the same motherboard as you and eventually that controller died so I upgraded and sold off the old system. One thing you can try is uninstalling the driver for the promise controller. Find the driver file's actual location on the drive, and after uninstalling the device, delete the file.
