Yeah ps3 can't play mkv files, but its only the container that's the issue. The streams in the file are h.264 and aac, both of which are fine, so you just need to put them in a different container (remux, not transcode). This isn't very resource heavy, on my PC it takes about 20sec for a 900MB file.
