Just use the driver provided on the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR Installation CD. Since the WinTV-HVR-1600 is dual tuner, you will be able to watch and record analog cable TV channels and ATSC digital TV channels at the same time. Windows 7 supports clear QAM digital TV, but Vista Media Center does not currently support clear QAM digital cable TV.

Sep 29, 2009 · Your version of Windows Media Center does not have Digital Cable (or even Clear-QAM) support. That feature was added with the TV Pack 2008 for Windows Vista (an OEM-only option), and was carried forward into Windows 7.

For use with Vista, the WinTV-HVR-1600 is certified for use with Microsoft's Media Center application. Not all included applications on the enclosed installation CD are currently certified for use with Vista. Some original models (specifically models 74551 & 74031) do not support clear QAM.

Mar 20, 2008 · Edit: There is no official QAM support for either version of Windows Media Center at this point. A HD HomeRun "fools" Windows into supporting QAM, but it is something of a tedious setup. QAM support has been promised for quite some time, but hasn't appeared yet. Other PVR programs do support QAM.

Aug 11, 2009 · Media Center for Vista, as you've learned, doesn't have native Clear-QAM support. Reason: it wasn't really necessary when Vista shipped. However, Hauppauge wrote a utility to 'enable' (in a roundabout way) that functionality on several of their tuners, yours included.
