    Jan 15, 2018 · The problem with (epoxy) coated rebar is that it gets nicks in the field during construction, thus allowing moisture to penetrate and rust to form. As a structural engineer, I recommend chair bolsters or brick/block supports. I think driving a rebar into the ground and tieing it to another rebar would lead to corrosion and spalling problems.
