Dec 23, 2009 · IS THERE: a way to find out IF and/or WHY recordmydesktop 0.3.8.1 thinks it's not compiled with jack support.... it SAYS it is when I do make etc. NO matter whether it's jack started from cli or gui or recordmydesktop from gui or terminal commands... I get record my desktop is not compiled with Jack support!

Aug 19, 2011 · FYI: recordmydesktop needs to be compiled with jack support enabled which I'm pretty sure is the case. Recent Fedora versions use pulseaudio and it looks like JACK looks for ALSA since there hasn't been any recent development for a couple years. Here's the part of the users manual that talks about the jack server.

This belongs in Feature Requests not in Bugs. "PulseAudio is the sound server of the future" I am not so sure about that. The JACK support of recordMyDesktop is a big plus and quite solid too but recordMyDesktop converts all video to Theora only and this has proved inconvenient when uploaded to a webservice like YouTube. The video quality just degraded too much. So I needed a different toolset.
