Now that the car has a V8 the radiator core support is used for the much larger radiator.

Chances are your hose will still be a bear to disconnect from the radiator - mine were - but keep at it (prying, wiggling, pulling) until it works free.

When removing the existing radiator support assembly, remove by cutting the factory spotwelds on the bridging brackets. Do not cut or drill out the bridging brackets at the riveted locations.

Instead of fighting with the radiator and shroud, we removed the hood and core support mounting bolts to allow room to move things around before removing the radiator.

Mar 06, 2012 · the radiator support isn't rusty at all, i just figured sense the power stroke weighs nearly 1,000 lbs, might be safer (i'll be pulling the engine alone) to remove the support. that way the engine doesn't have to be raised nearly as high. good to know it'll only take a couple hours to take it off. thanks for the help...this is my first diesel ...

May 24, 2007 · The rivots hold the strut rod mounts to the support. I installed a CPP lower control arm kit, which eliminates those strut rods and mounts, but the crossmember in the kit attaches to those holes in the rad. support .Hope this makes sense to you.lol

Mar 30, 2015 · The front end was sagging from the rotted core support; the new support will relieve the load off the upper part of the fenders. There was no radiator seal remaining across the top of the radiator and core support. With the hood removed, start on the upper and lower hoses. Remove the hoses completely to allow as much room as possible.

Mar 28, 2012 · OK guys. Im about to tackle the Radiator core support on my truck because it is rusted out on one side and the other side isn't far behind. The area it is rusted is down at the bottom by what looks like the front cab mounts so therefore i get some excess vibration/rattle) when driving.
