To my understanding handling of xinclude and xpointer is more a matter of parsing (Xerces for example) than XSLT So you can use the option -xi on Saxon Command line to active xinclude processing (which is handled by Xerces) [[ -xi Apply XInclude processing to all input XML documents (including schema and stylesheet modules as well as source documents).

Do you know of a complete XSLT implementation (preferably 2.0, and Saxon compatible) of XPointer? Whilst ideally I would like to have support of the W3C recommended XPointer schemes, I would rather like "xmlns()", "element()", and the non-W3C "xpath1()" scheme support.

XInclude Processing in XSLT - XML

Mar 28, 2007 · The new 2.0 version of XSLT finally allows you to implement XInclude in XSLT (some XSLT processors, such as libxslt , support XInclude, but that is not a mandatory part of an XSLT processor), something which could not be done in the 1.0 version of the language, because in that version it was impossible to access plain-text files .

Using XInclude - Xerces

    https://xerces.apache.org/xerces2-j/faq-xinclude.html
Yes. The XInclude processor will preserve language information on a top-level included element by adding an xml:lang attribute if its include parent has a different [language] property. Support for language fixup was added to the XInclude implementation in Xerces-J 2.7.0.
