Oct 05, 2016 · A while back I went to put the front brace on the starter on the 327. I found that it did not fit and that the starter casting locates the starter rotated a few degrees from what I would call normal. This places it lower and closer to the engine and the brace ends up too short. The starter engages and functions normally.

Nov 15, 2011 · The 12v diesel starter for a 1984 Chevy K30 with J-code engine. It should come with the stud for the support bracket. Any parts house should be able to order it. These truck are getting older and they don't stock stuff like this on the shelf. Usually have it at the warehouse.

I have a SBC 406 (400 30over) I was tearing up factory starters (probably due to not having the bracket on the rear of the starter that I didn’t even know about til I did research). I bought a Summitt brand mini starter it is suppose to be good up to 18:1 compression I am only running 11:5.
