The first half inch of most screws are tapered and thus don't add much to it's strength. Then you need to subtract the thickness of the bracket and the drywall. So now we have a whole one inch actually used for support. Enough to keep things tipping over but not enough to hold anything heavier than a picture up.

May 14, 2013 · 3. Screws - Although this boggles my mind, it seems that this is how it's done. Simply pop a couple of screws in the front of the unit, and viola, all of it's weight is supported. I have a 30 pound amp which I am very, very hesitant to try this on. I suspect it will quickly come crashing down. Take a look at this photo, and notice the APC unit.
