From here, select the Controller menu. Then select Add Steam Controller and follow the on-screen pairing instructions to enter the validation code. The Gamepad-1 listed under the controller list is normal, and is how Mac recognizes Xinput for the Steam Controller

Oct 16, 2015 · if you read the tiny print on the bottom of the Steam controller box it says "Requires a computer (minimum Windows 7, Mac OS 10.10 or Steam OS)" Update to at least Mac OS X Yosemite and it will work with Portal 2. The software must still be in development becausePortal 2 and only Portal 2 will work for mac right now.
