Jan 09, 2014 · The crappy 3D perf despite AMD's support shows how hard it is to develop a driver for modern graphics cards. Hopefully Valve will be able to help shore up the open source drivers for both vendors, but for now you'll find that SteamOS uses the proprietary driver for both vendors because that's the only current practical option.
