Large File Support in Linux - SUSE Linux

    https://users.suse.com/~aj/linux_lfs.html
    Since glibc 2.1.3 was released before LFS support went into Linux 2.3.X/2.4.0-testX, some fixes had to be made to glibc to support the kernel routines. The current stable release of glibc is glibc 2.2.3 (2.2 was released in November 2000) and it does support all the features from Linux 2.4.0.

Compatibility with GCC 7 + glibc 2.27

    https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-c-compiler/topic/777003
    I don't think Red Hat Linux has glibc 2.27. To reproduce the issues mentioned in the OP you will need a system which has both GCC 7+ (for the FloatX type problem) and glibc 2.27+ (for both the FloatX problem and the VERSION_TYPE problem).

package management - GLIBC => 2.5 Ubuntu 16.04 - Ask Ubuntu

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/1011148/glibc-2-5-ubuntu-16-04
    glibc 2.5 was released 2006-09-29. glibc 2.23 was released 2016-02-19. glibc 2.27 was released 2018-02-01. The last one above (2.27) is the latest release and is present in 18.04 Bionic Beaver. As Knud Larsen has pointed out, glibc-2.5 is a very old version, and thus installing it as a default on a 16.04 would result in a completely broken system.

[OPEN] Glibc 2.15 and 2.14 required on Linux

    https://www.sencha.com/forum/showthread.php?306483-Glibc-2-15-and-2-14-required-on-Linux
    Nov 04, 2015 · From my understanding, there was a large jump between 2.13 and 2.14. 2.12 was released in 2010, so it's unfortunate that even you're on a relatively new version of Oracle Linux, it's got an old glibc. I'm not sure if we'll be able to easily support older versions of glibc, but I'll create a ticket to track this issue for future evaluation.

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32316707/rhel-6-how-to-install-glibc-2-14-or-glibc-2-15
    I'm suggesting you don't install that because it is too new.It depends on versions of software that RHEL 6 does not contain. And yes if you want support from RHEL I believe you do need to wait for them to package the software.
