Jun 24, 2014 · Approximately 500 Americans are diagnosed with thymoma each year. It had dropped malignant cells onto my heart and diaphragm, requiring two major surgeries and chemotherapy. I quickly discovered that having a rare cancer can feel very isolating. There isn't much research, and they're certainly wasn't a support group in my hometown.

If you have stage 1 thymus gland cancer, this may be the only treatment you need. But chemotherapy and radiotherapy are often used before or after surgery. Sometimes they are used as the first treatment if you can’t have surgery.

Aug 07, 2011 · But, unfortunately it has reacted in a very aggressive way. My local pulminary, neuro and pcp all said my thymoma was beneign and the small lessions on my ct scan were scar tissue. not to worry. Thanks to being part of this support group, I learned from sherry( new mugg ) that all thymomas have the potential to return and become invasive.
